Overview

Certification and recertification processes within the REACT programme are fundamental to maintaining clinical excellence, instructional integrity, and patient safety across all participating Centres of Excellence (COEs). These processes ensure that both provider candidates and faculty members meet CALS Australia PTY LTD standards through structured education, performance assessments, and continued professional development.

Provider Certification

  • All REACT candidates must complete an approved eLearning module followed by a one-day face-to-face training session.
  • Certification is valid for two years and includes key skills such as early crisis recognition, ABCDE patient assessment, manual defibrillation, mechanical CPR deployment, and airway management.
  • Candidates must hold a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate prior to enrolment.

Provider Recertification

  • Providers are required to fully retake the REACT course (eLearning and physical elements) every two years to maintain active status.
  • No abridged or assessment-only routes are permitted, ensuring complete skill refreshment and protocol alignment.

Trainers, Instructor Candidates, and Directors

Trainer Requirements

  • Trainers must:
    • Hold a valid REACT provider certificate.
    • Have attended an approved TTT course at an accredited COE.
    • Demonstrate competence through three supervised teaching engagements within two years.
    • Be signed off by a qualified Course Director.

Instructor Candidates (ICs)

  • ICs must undergo proctored practice teaching sessions and deliver at least one lecture and one practical station under supervision.
  • Certification is contingent on satisfactory assessment from the Course Director.

Course Directors and Medical Leads

  • Each course must be led by an accredited Course Director and Medical Director (roles may be held by the same person).
  • These individuals are responsible for governance, faculty performance, risk management, and timely submission of course reports.
